STEVE AUSTIN

Greg Bovell, widely recognized in the music industry as Steve Austin, is elevating his lifelong passion for music to new heights. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to a Panamanian mother and a Jamaican father, Steve grew up immersed in a rich blend of cultural and musical influences.

As dancehall music gained traction in Brooklyn, Steve embraced the movement, launching his own sound system, Full House International. Before this venture, he made waves as a DJ, featuring on Chubb Rock’s album The One with the single Just the Two of Us. While enjoying success as an artist, Steve always aimed for even greater achievements within the music industry.

His sound system’s growing popularity led to his recruitment by the renowned Earthquake Hi Power, a powerhouse in New York’s dancehall scene. Alongside icons like Screechy Don, James Bond, and Stevie Irie, Steve played a pivotal role in cementing Earthquake Hi Power as a dominant force, celebrated for their electrifying performances and lyrical finesse.

Steve’s influence expanded beyond the stage when he created and hosted the cable television show Dancehall World, dedicated to all things dancehall—from interviews and music videos to party promotions. This success further solidified his reputation as a dynamic figure in the industry.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Steve transitioned to radio broadcasting, hosting the number one show in his timeslot on Whaa Gwaan Radio, an underground station in Brooklyn. His popular “Make It or Break It” segment provided a platform for emerging artists and fresh music, demonstrating his commitment to nurturing new talent.

In October 2018, Steve took his career to the next level by launching his music label, House of Muzik Entertainment. The label’s flagship project, the London Riddim series, features a 14-track compilation showcasing various artists, including the standout singles Dunn’s River and Father. His latest production, Dangerous by Light A Fiyah featuring Conroy Smith, continues to gain traction, alongside the celebrated One Turntable and a Mic Special Honorees Edition, which pays tribute to pioneers like Ralph McDaniels of Video Music Box

With a vision to bridge dancehall with mainstream audiences, Steve is focused on creating music that blends dancehall’s infectious rhythms with hip-hop influences. His ongoing projects reflect this commitment, setting the stage for his label’s continued success.

Currently, Steve hosts The New York Experience on Red Hot Radio 102.3 FM, airing Monday and Thursday nights from 9 PM to midnight in New York and the tri-state area. Fans can also tune in via the Red Hot Radio app.

Steve Austin’s journey underscores the power of passion, perseverance, and adaptability. Through his various ventures, he continues to leave an indelible mark on the music industry, with House of Muzik Entertainment poised to make even greater strides.
